Provenance should not begin at retail.
It should begin at source.
Where did the material originate?
Under what licence?
Who held it?
Who exported it?
What testing occurred?
Who processed it?
Where did custody transfer?
These questions matter increasingly across strategic materials, precious materials and responsible sourcing.
The gemstone trade should not treat provenance as decorative storytelling added at the final stage.
Provenance is infrastructure.
Source-side records can connect:
origin,
legal authority,
chain of custody,
technical data,
processing history,
and commercial identity.
For TSAVORA®, the Suite Passport indexes documents supplied for a matched suite. The Ledger follows the mineral-resource system. Neither is a government-issued passport or a universal certificate.
The stone should arrive at market already knowing who it is.
This saves everybody considerable existential distress.
