Suppose a particular market consistently produces:
poor price discovery,
unnecessary friction,
weak execution,
or inadequate respect for provenance.
One solution is reform advocacy.
Another is argument.
Another is endless engagement.
There is also a fourth solution.
Leave.
Not forever.
Five years.
Perhaps ten.
A sabbatical.
The material goes somewhere else.
Transactions happen elsewhere.
Comparable prices develop elsewhere.
Relationships deepen elsewhere.
Capital accumulates elsewhere.
The original market receives the most elegant commercial feedback mechanism ever designed:
absence.
There is no angry campaign.
No boycott theatre.
No posters.
No megaphone.
Just fewer stones.
This creates what we call:
divine commercial peace.
The holder stops fighting.
The alternative market receives supply.
The old market enjoys an extended reflective period.
Everybody grows.
Some more than others.
