Editorial body
MOQ.
Minimum Order Quantity.
Three modest letters.
Extraordinary psychological consequences.
Without an MOQ, the conversation may sound like:
“Could we see one?”
“Perhaps another?”
“Could we choose this one?”
Perfectly reasonable for certain markets.
With an MOQ, the conversation changes.
The holder is no longer merely selling objects.
The holder is allocating supply.
MOQ communicates several things:
there is enough inventory to require structure;
logistics matter;
transaction costs matter;
commercial cycles matter;
the supplier values its time;
and the relationship must operate at economically meaningful scale.
This does not mean every customer needs industrial volume.
Different channels can have different thresholds.
But an MOQ tells the market:
we have moved from curiosity to architecture.
The room becomes remarkably attentive.
