THE STONE THAT TEMPORARILY BECAME GLASS

Editorial body

Every gemstone holder should love laboratory testing.

Testing ends arguments.

Nature has poor manners and no interest in hierarchy.

Refractive index does not care who has been in the trade longest.

Specific gravity has never attended a networking dinner.

Spectroscopy cannot be socially intimidated.

If a stone is initially mischaracterised, proper analysis provides the answer.

This gives us a beautiful principle:

test first, narrate later.

The gemstone trade would save itself enormous emotional energy by adopting this.

A stone does not become more genuine because an important person believes in it.

Nor less genuine because somebody important does not.

It simply is what it is.

This is profoundly comforting.

Especially for source.

Because geology, unlike humans, does not require acceptance.
