THE SIX LIVES OF ONE STONE

Editorial body

A gemstone can have an extraordinary career.

Life One:

At source it is material.

Life Two:

At export it becomes commercial material.

Life Three:

After cutting it becomes fine gemstone material.

Life Four:

After laboratory documentation it becomes certified fine gemstone material.

Life Five:

Inside jewellery it becomes rare natural gemstone jewellery.

Life Six:

Inside an insurance document it becomes a figure large enough to require sitting down.

Same stone.

Remarkable personal growth.

None of this is inherently improper.

Real value has been added along the way.

Cutting costs money.

Skill matters.

Yield is lost.

Laboratory work costs money.

Jewellery manufacture costs money.

Retail businesses carry overhead.

But the six lives teach source one crucial lesson:

never sell Life One without understanding Lives Two through Six.

You need not capture every stage.

You need to understand them.

Otherwise, somebody else will explain your own asset back to you later at a considerable premium.
